How does Laser Hair Removal work?
Laser hair removal effectively works by destroying the hair follicle itself. Depending on the machine you are using you will see varying result.s Some machines can not be used on all skin tones so it is important to have a consultation and patch test before you book your laser hair removal treatment
How does the LightSheer Duet Machine work?
At Laserpod our high speed LightSheer Duet produces a beam of highly concentrated light onto the hair. this light is absorbed by the pigment located in your hair follicle. The laser will pulse for a millisecond which allows your hair to absorb the light which heats if up damaging the hair shaft. This damage to the hair shaft and bulb is what prevents the hair from coming back During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, allowing the hair to absorb the light and heat up. The laser can only target hair which is in an active growth stage so you will need at least six treatments to see good results.
Why do you use the LightSheer Duet machine
Aside from the great results the LightSheer Duet machine is comparatively painless, allows you to be treated more quickly and offers the least regrowth. When Laser hair removal technology was first introduced sessions sessions were lengthy, painful and carried a high risk of regrowth. The LightSheer Duet machine changed all of this. Unlike past technology the LightSheer duet machine effectively targets hairs with minimal discomfort.
How long will treatment take?

One of the major advantages to the light sheer duet machine is the treatment times. What is the difference between Laser and IPL?
Many clients are confused about the difference between IPL and Laser. Actually the two treatments are very different. Laser is a targeted beam of light which is very precise. IPL is much cheaper technology and uses different varieties of light waves. This means that IPL is less powerful and less targeted.
A laser is an intensely concentrated beam of light. The energy is extremely focused rather than diffuse so it is very precise, offering more powerful, accurate results. During an initial consultation we carefully tune the laser to your individual skin and hair type, ensuring the best possible results on all skin shades and types.
In basic terms, IPL is far less effective than Laser Hair Removal. The energy is produced by a lamp, a little like a light bulb, and produces a variety of light waves, meaning that it is more diffuse and less powerful. Because IPL produces this wide range of waves it can not be focussed into a concentrated beam. What this means for you is that only some of the waves during your IPL treatment will actually be having effect. A shallow wave will mean that your deeper thicker hairs are not able to be treated effectively. The other consideration is that IPL can lead to the skin absorbing the light as well as the hairs so there can be an increased risk of burns. Therefore we will only ever use Laser at Laserpod as this is a safer, more effective and less uncomfortable solution.
How should I remove hair between treatments?
Carry on using hair removal creams or shaving to your hearts content. We do advise against waxing or plucking as this can upset the hair growth cycle which could mean you will end up needing more sessions.
Is there anything I will need after treatment?
We recommend a smoothing cream such as aloe vera gel and just going about your normal routine. Very few clients experience any sensitivity at all but if you do this should last no more than 24 hours.
Can I go on holiday?
It is really important when having laser treatment not to have any sun burn or damage. We strongly advise not having laser treatments for 8 weeks around any planned holidays. If you are going on holiday during this time you will need to ensure all treated areas have a good quality sun block applied to protect your skin.
How long do results last?
Laser Hair Removal can never 100% guarantee that you will be hair free for life. However using the LightSheer Duet we have found 95% of clients experience permanent hair removal after their treatment with just a fraction coming back often years later to treat small areas of regrowth. Your therapist will keep you informed during all of your sessions to ensure you receive the best results and if you do need to return these should eb for quick top up sessions to maintain results. .
