NeogenSpa is new technology developed by the Energist Medical Group with the backing of the medical community and renowned dermatologists. NeoGen has seen great results in terms of tackling signs of ageing including fine lines and wrinkles, skin tightening, pigmentation, enlarged pores, acne scars and we have also seen results on active acne.
One of the key selling points about this treatment is it is entirely safe to use around the eye area which is known as being tricky. The NeoGen treatment will safely rejuvenate your eye area without any risk to the eye. This is a revolutionary new treatment and one of the many advantages to this system. If you want to see for yourself – have a look at the video of Siobhan Hudson as she treats.
NeoGen works by delivering pulses of nitrogen-based plasma to the skin’s surface. Nitrogen is a colourless, odourless gaseous element. When introduced to ultra-high frequency energy, the nitrogen is converted into a highly energized state, or plasma. When directed from the handpiece, the plasma transfers its energy onto the skin without any direct contact or heat charring, causing a very controlled heating of tissue and a unique thermal profile. It stimulates the body to regenerate and produce more collagen to the damaged structural elements of the skin.
FAQ – Neogen Spa
Does it hurt?
The NeoGen treatment feels a bit like a warm blast of air but you won’t experience any real discomfort even over your eyelids. Before beginning treatment we will do a test patch so you know how it feels and what to expect.
How will I feel after treatment?
Your skin might be a little red and flushed and you might experience some dryness. Depending on the intensity of the setting you might have a little bit of skin flaking over the next 24 hours but your technician will recommend a good quality moisturizer to minimise downtime. Downtime varies by client but it is possible to experience 48 hours of redness. If you do experience redness just cover it up with a little mineral makeup. If you have an important event we would recommend you have the treatment at least a week prior to minimise risk of redness.
How many treatments will I need
This depends on what you are treating. Clients typically see skin tightening affects after 3-5 sessions. Some of our clients have seen great improvements in active acne when combined with skin peels but this is something we will go over at your individual assessment.
The Eye area
One of the major advantages to this treatment is we can easily and precisely target the signs of age around your eye and eyelids – an area that is typically difficult to treat without invasive surgery.
Your skin looks and feels tightened and you should see a more youthful fresh looking complexion.
Use gentle cleansers and avoid getting the skin too hot. Avoid direct sunlight for a week and ensure you have adequate sun protection. We recommend not using make-up immediately following but appreciate most people prefer to cover up the redness so if you are using make-up ensure it is a mineral make-up so the skin can breathe. You skin may feel dryer than usual so a good quality moisturiser is recommended.
Why do you call is resurfacing?
We refer to this as plasma resurfacing as the treatment forces your skin cells to regenerate leaving you with a smoother more even complexion with less visible fine lines and wrinkles, reduced pore size etc.
What happens during treatment?
Before any treatment we will ask you to attend a skin assessment to ensure you are suitable for treatment and find our your problem areas. Beginning treatment your technician will lie you down before beginning to treat your chosen area (typically the face).
The Neogen itself is a hand held device which blasts heat in a very controlled manner onto your skin. The treatment is quick and virtually painless – you might feel a small blast of heat occasionally. It will take around 15 minutes to treat your face and this includes treating your eyes.
